For two years, Loren Langford will live among the people of Costa Rica, learn their language and teach his Christian religion.But rather than fear the unknown, Langford is “super excited” about going to another country. He has three older brothers to thank for it.“I’ve had three other brothers go on missions, and they’ve always said it was the best two years of your life,” said Langford, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Three people were seriously injured in Friday afternoon’s Wilsonville-area traffic crash on Interstate 5 southbound. After a commercial truck and a Jeep Wrangler collided on the freeway, north of the Boone Bridge, the Jeep’s driver and two passengers were transported to Oregon Health and Sciences University hospital.

Oregon’s largest fire district soon will have a new commander-in-chief, and the public is invited to watch the transfer of command. At 4 p.m. Wednesday, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue Chief Jeff Johnson will transfer his command and control to current Deputy Chief Mike Duyck.

A Jeep and a semi-truck and trailer were involved in a collision around 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon in the southbound lane of Interstate 5, causing extensive traffic delays just south of the Wilsonville Road exit.

After a nearly 20-year career with the city of Wilsonville, City Manager Arlene Loble announced her retirement Thursday.Loble, who gave the announcement at an employee barbecue, said she is staying in her position until the end of December.
