If all goes as planned, Wilsonville’s stinky days may be numbered. For the past few years — especially during the warmer summer months — the city’s aging sewage plant has been emitting not-so-sweet odors, stinking out residents in neighborhoods closest to the plant as well as motorists passing through Wilsonville on Interstate 5.

The Wilsonville City Council swore in its newest member, Julie Fitzgerald, on Monday, Nov. 19, at the council’s regular meeting. Fitzgerald, 56, the director of philanthropy for the Nature Conservancy in Oregon, fills a council seat left vacant after former councilor Steve Hurst resigned in June.
