The Wilsonville Public Library will host a Rotten Ralph Happy (or Rotten) Valentine's Day Program at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, in the Oak Room at the library, 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Road. Get ready for Valentine’s Day with author/illustrator Nicole Rubel and her pal, Rotten Ralph. S & A Traditional Irish Entertainment will host First Friday Irish Music and Dance Céilí Mór, starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at the historic Winona Grange #271, 8340 S.W. Seneca Street, Tualatin. This Valentine Dance will feature Elizabeth Nicholson on harp, Bob Soper on vocals and fiddle and Preston Howard on pipes and whistles. Open to the public, all ages welcom. Clackamas County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering a hands-on workshop series for landowners with horses who would like to have better pastures and healthier horses. This five part series includes a soil test for your property, interpretation of soil test results, custom aerial and soil maps for your property, a copy of the Rural Lifestyles Handbook, and more. Participants will also gain hands-on experience taking soil samples, calculating nutrient application rates, calculating chemical application rates, calibrating sprayers, and fence building. The series continues with “Use What You Have to Get What You Want,” hands-on ideas for pasture restoration, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6. All classes are at the Sabin-Schellenberg Center, 14450 S.E. The Clackamas County Master Gardeners are hosting “Garden Discovery Day” from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 6, at the Milwaukie Center at North Clackamas Park, 5440 S.E. Kellogg Creek Drive, Milwaukie. This free event offers many ways to share the “Know, Sow, Grow” fun of gardening. The Master Gardeners of Clackamas County will also offer a  clinic to answer gardening questions. There will be hands-on activities for kids, soil pH tests and displays of tools, books, catalogs and materials. A Bridal Fair to benefit Clackamas Women’s Services will be held from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, and noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at the Willamette Valley Country Club, 2396 N. Maple Street, Canby. Over 30 local, small business, wedding professionals will be featured at the show. Wilsonville residents are invited to join a walkathon to raise money for earthquake victims in Haiti starting at 1 p.m.Sunday, Feb. 7, at Wilsonville High School, 6800 S.W. Wilsonville Road. The 3.1 mile walk will proceed around Town Center Loop and back to the school. The Wilsonville Library will host “Night of a Thousand Stars: A Portrait of Life in Iraq” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the Wilsonville Public Library, 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Road. Thos free discussion is about war, media bias, and American perceptions of Iraq and Middle Easterners. Photojournalist Joel Preston Smith will lead the presentation. He is a Portland-based freelance writer, photographer and artist who has served as a photojournalist in the U.S. Army and as a civilian on humanitarian aid missions to Rwanda, Honduras, the West Bank and Iraq.  He traveled in central and northern Iraq for four months in 2003, living with Iraqis and Kurd and patrolling with U.S. soldiers.This program is sponsored by Oregon Humanities. The Wilsonville Theater Company presents “Who’s On First,” a Nightmare Comedy  by Jack Sharkey. Two men and two women interact with a rubber chicken, a gun, and a magic lamp to become different characters in hilarious scenes. The play will run at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at the Frogpond Grange Hall, 27370 S.W. Rolling Hills Community Church will hold a “Celebrate Recovery Open House” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the church, 3550 S.W. Borland Road, Tualatin. The event starts with a light dinner, goes on to a worship service with teaching and an overview of the Celebrate Recovery program, a Christ-centered program for men and women that addresses life’s hurts, hang-ups and habits. The Tigard / King City Republican Women’s Club will host former Trailblazer, Chris Dudley as  guest speaker at its monthly meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Hi Hat Restaurant, 11530 S.W. “Understanding Grief: What to Expect and How to Cope” offers bereavement support to those who have experienced a loss, provides information about the grieving process and helping the bereaved understand their own unique grief. Participants learn how to identify their own grieving style and what coping strategies can best support them. Weight Watchers now offers two new meetings on Wednesdays in Wilsonville at the 
Al Kader Shriner Center, 25100 S.W. Parkway Avenue. They are held every Wednesday at 9 and 11:30 a.m. Meeting leader is Stephanie Allen, a Weight Watchers veteran for over 15 years. Children are welcome with mothers. Next meetings are Feb. 10 and 17. Details: www.weightwatchers.com.
 
All are invited to join us for a weekly meeting of the new “TOPS” or Take Off Pounds Sensibly support group in Wilsonville. The meetings are held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Mondays. Come join the Sole Sisters for our second annual womens half marathon, Queen of the High Road, on Saturday, May 22. This event is a 13-mile race for walkers and runners, all paces encouraged and welcomed. Until then, the group is inviting those interested in participating to take part in weekly training runs. Group training will be held each Saturday at 8 a.m. starting at Wilsonville High School, 6800 S.W. Wilsonville Road. Training sessions will run from February through the May event. The Wilsonville Public Library is holding “Food for Fines in February,” a chance for library patrons to pay down any overdue book fines they have accumulated. Each can or box of food could be worth 50 cents in credit toward fines, subject to staff approval. All food goes to Wilsonville Community Sharing. Acceptable items include: unopened cans, jars, and boxes of non-perishable food, including: canned meat or fish; boxed and canned meals; cereal, both hot and cold; chili, soups or stews; pastas, beans, grains, but no ramen. Free federal and state income tax forms are available at the Wilsonville Public Library, 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Road, during normal business hours: Mon-Thurs., 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Fri-Sat. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sun. 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. This will last through the filing deadline on April 15.

The Wilsonville Community Center will be providing income tax  assistance free of charge during the tax season for seniors and individuals of lower income. The I-5 Connection is an  energetic song and dance troupe based in Wilsonville. The group is now welcoming newcomers of all ages to come down to the Wilsonville Community Center and join in on the fun.
