Wilsonville mayor engages in 'smart planning'

Finally, it seems, Mayor Tim Knapp can focus on a planning issue of his own initiative.Since he took office just over a year ago, it’s been a constant whitewater of issues that required inordinate amounts of his time. Those issues ranged from the connector debate, where Knapp spent much time meeting with regional leaders, to the economic recession and Metro’s urban/rural reserve process.

Cautiously optimistic.That’s how many local public officials are looking at last week’s passage of a regional reserves plan that designates which areas will and will not be opened for development in the next 50 years.

City council approves new 'granny flat' rules

Apartments just like those “The Fonz” lived in soon could be available in Wilsonville.The Wilsonville City Council recently approved planning code changes that will increase the size and scope and lower the cost of building so-called “granny flats,” or accessory dwelling units that typically are added on to homes.
