OPINION: We need leaders like Kirsten Wyatt on school board

In today’s complicated education landscape, we need calm, competent, and committed leadership. That’s why I’m voting to reelect Kirsten Wyatt to the West Linn-Wilsonville School Board, position 3.

My family and I moved to West Linn in 2020 specifically because of the district’s excellent public school system, and I am so grateful for Kirsten’s leadership and commitment as a school board director.

Kirsten brings years of experience in public policy and budgeting to the table —skills that are critical for school board governance. She understands how to make smart financial decisions that reflect our community’s values, keeping our district focused on student achievement.

Her professional background includes managing public sector budgets, and she excels in asking tough questions, interpreting complex data and pushing for responsible solutions that serve all students.

But perhaps most importantly, Kirsten is deeply rooted in our community. She is accessible, engaged and always willing to listen. Whether she’s at a board meeting, attending a student performance or responding to a parent’s concerns, Kirsten shows up — not just as a board member, but as a neighbor who truly cares.

She is also a coalition builder. In a time when polarization too often derails progress, Kirsten brings people together. Her relationships with district staff, educators and families give her the perspective to make thoughtful decisions and foster unity.

We need leaders like Kirsten Wyatt — smart, steady, service-driven. I hope you’ll join me in voting for her reelection to the West Linn-Wilsonville School Board.
